THE SITUATION OF
QI HUAI RIVER THESE YEARS

  Down to last century especially recent 50 years, with the fast increase of population and the development of industriesalong the river, tons of wastes were diacharged into the river. It is beyond what the river could bear, especially coupled with the frenquent activities along the river.

   By the coordination of the provincal government and with the concerns of the municipal leaders, in 1999 Nov, millions were poured into the remediation of QinHuai River. The project will be completed in three procedures.

    Now, the first cleanup of the inner tributary is drawn to its end. Another program is starting up to sustain the outcome of the cleanup.

    The old river comes to its live again, and the citizens are able to enjoy the scenery along the river.
